Cataract surgery
Cataracts develop when the natural lens of the eye is affected as a result of aging or exposure to external blows. This causes a change in the structure of the lens. Consequently, the proteins and fibers that make it up accumulate in the form of an opaque mass that affects the degree of transparency of the lens and gradually spreads throughout all parts of the lens until it causes severe vision impairment.
This disease may be congenital, resulting from genetic factors. Or it happens with age, Or it may even be associated with certain eye diseases, inflammatory conditions, and chronic medication use.
Cataracts are treated at Dr. Ahmed Al-Shahed’s center using the latest treatment technologies.
The protocol for phacoemulsification of the eye lens using ultrasound is often adopted. Or what is called phacoemulsification technique, Which works by removing the damaged lens of the eye and implanting a healthy lens in its place.
In advanced cases, cataract surgery is used.
This surgery is considered essential when a patient’s vision is affected and it is difficult for them to perform their usual activities.
Certainly, early treatment of cataracts is a safe option to protect the eye from complications that include increased eye pressure and breakdown of the ring ligament that holds the lens in place.
The phacoemulsification machine available at Dr. Ahmed Al-Shahed’s center is the most advanced ever. It is capable of treating cataracts with high precision without any complications or potential risks.
