Lens implantation for vision correction
The option of implanting lenses to correct vision is a very distinctive treatment option, as it works to treat most refractive vision problems such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
These therapeutic lenses are implanted in front of the original lens in the eye, or the natural lens in the eye is completely removed and these lenses are implanted in its place.
These lenses are made from a unique medical material called Collamer, and are characterized by being lightweight, highly flexible, easy to implant in the eye, compatible with body tissues for life, unnoticeable in the eye, and very comfortable.
There are three main types of implantable lenses for the eye, all of American origin, sourced from the best and highest quality suppliers under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Al-Shahed to ensure the best visual results. These types include:
- Monofocal lenses: These lenses are also divided into several types, but the aspherical type of lenses is the best, as it greatly improves the quality of vision and corrects night vision problems, while improving three-dimensional vision and the degree of color contrast. However, these lenses only correct vision at one distance, either at a close distance or at a far distance.
- Multifocal lenses: These are among the most important types of therapeutic lenses that correct vision at all distances at the same time, and do not require glasses or contact lenses after the operation. These lenses have developed significantly in recent years.
- Toric lenses: These lenses treat astigmatism by correcting the regularity of the corneal surface with high quality, and at the same time treat all the refractive vision defects that the patient suffers from.
All these lenses are designed to stay inside the eye for many years and do not cause any problems. They are free from the possibility of immune rejection, provided that the patient adheres to all of Dr. Ahmed Al-Shahed’s instructions after the operation.
